Meridian High School has teamed with the White House to become a Certifying Organization for the U.S. PRESIDENT'S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD, a national program recognizing Americans who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service. Established in 2003, the Award was created by President George W. Bush to give Presidential recognition to individuals, families and groups who meet requirements for volunteer service, measure by the number of services hours perform aced over 12 months.

Meridian High School is one of few of schools that have joined forces to deliver the President's Volunteer Service Award and honor the volunteers who strengthen our Nation. As a Certifying Organization for the Award, Meridian High School is responsible for verifying service hours, nominating potential recipients and delivering the Award.

The Award is issued by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, a group convened by President George W. Bush to help foster and encourage a culture of volunteer service and civic participation among Americans, Chaired by two-time Super Bowl Champion Darrell Green with former U.S. Senators Bob Dole and John Glenn as honorary co-chairs, the Council is composed of leaders in government, media, entertainment, business, education, non-profit and volunteer service organizations and community volunteering.

Meridian High School also offers THE PRESIDENT'S EDUCATION AWARDS PROGRAM, sponsored by the U. S. Department of Education, was developed to help principals recognize and honor those students who have achieved high academic goals by their hard work and dedication to learning.

Students are eligible for one of two honors:

1. The President's Award for Educational Excellence, and/or,

2. The President's Award for Educational Achievement.

For each award students receive certificates signed by the president, the U.S. Secretary of Education, and you. A congratulatory letter from the President of United States is included with the awards. There are also optional lapel pins, inscribed with the Presidential Seal, to accompany the certificates.
 

AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP AWARD
On the recommendation of faculty members and discretion of head of School, student may be awarded with AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP AWARD.
 

Students of Meridian High School are encouraged to take part in PRESIDENTIAL YOUTH FITNESS PROGRAM (PYFP). This program is developed to ensure what happens before, during, and after the fitness assessment is beneficial for students and teachers and leads to youth who are active for life.

Meridian High School is a Registered Constituent of Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). The Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) was created in 1985 under the Federal Advisory Committee Act to promote security cooperation between American private sector interests worldwide and the U.S. Department of State. The Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) is a Federal Advisory Committee with a U.S. Government Charter that promotes security cooperation between the U.S. Department of State and American business interests worldwide. OSAC currently has more than 150 Country councils overseas, and encompasses more than 8,100 constituent organizations.
