RULES AND REGULATIONS  

Parent(s) Local Responsibilities

Parents enrolling their students in our school need to meet all applicable local and state home school requirements.

Role of the Parents

The primary right and duty to educate rest with the parents.  In the home, more than any other place, parents teach by their example, reverence for God and respect for the dignity of others.  They are also tremendously influential in cultivating among their children the virtues of love of neighbor, justice, generosity, loyalty, industry and honesty which are essential to their living the noble life.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998

We comply strictly with applicable laws and regulations, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, for the protection of children's online privacy. We do not:

1.     Collect online contact information from children under the age of 13 without prior parental notification and consent which will include an opportunity for the parent to prevent use of the information and the child’s participation in the related activity. Without prior parental consent, online information will only be used to respond directly to a child's request and will not be used for other purposes.

2.     Collect the personally identifiable offline contact information of a child under age 13 without prior parental consent.

3.     Distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information relating to a child under age 13 without prior parental consent.

4.     Give children under age 13 the ability to publicly post or otherwise distribute personally identifiable contact information without prior parental consent.

5.     Entice any child by the prospect of a special game, prize, or other activity, to divulge more information than is needed to participate in the activity.

Teachers/ Private Tutors
Teachers or private tutors may be made available upon request.

Students Rights

IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE STUDENT TO:

1. Know what services Meridian High School offers to all students.
2. Have access, upon written request directed to the proper MHS officials, to a list of the types of records and student-related reports maintained on him or her by the respective offices and departments at MHS.
3. Know the policies and procedures in regard to the cost, enrollment, registration, and of any changes in the program.
4. Privacy of all records.
5. Have access to all MHS student service offices and their benefits.
6. Be fully informed of MHS refund and repayment policies.


Student Responsibilities

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY STUDENT TO:

1. Adopt personal values that will contribute to the goal of preparing the student for a successful, professional future.
2. Study, learn, and fulfill in a timely manner the requirements of the courses of study.
3. Maintain awareness of grades, course completions and grade point averages with an eye toward fulfillment of graduation requirements.
4. Know MHS’ transfer of credit policies.
5. Be knowledgeable with respect to the contents of the MHS Catalog.
6. Perform the timely and proper completion of all coursework by the established deadlines and guarantee the accuracy of any information provided.
7. Fulfill all financial obligations by the established deadlines.
8. Notify Admissions Office of any change in address or phone numbers in order to ensure proper communication between MHS and the student.

Deposits 
Students can make a non-refundable $250.00 enrollment fee, for HSD program and US$100 for HSED program at the time of registration. No student records or diplomas will be released until all financial obligations are met.

Official Transcript

The student may request an official transcript, on an expedited base, prepared within three (3) working days at a total fee of $25.00 per transcript.

Transfer Credits

Meridian High School accepts all transfer credits, with a grade of “C” (or 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale) from all fully accredited secondary educational institutions.


Withdrawal Policy

Students are able to return materials and withdraw from the class no later than the end of the first week for a full refund.  No refunds will be given to students who withdraw after the first week unless authorized by the Head of School.


Student Responsibilities

The student is expected to read assignments and complete all assignments for this class.  Your ability to do so will help you to learn, retain and apply concepts to the real-world.     


Academic Dishonesty

Academic Dishonesty (as defined by the Meridian High School) includes, but is not limited to cheating on examinations; receiving help from other students (unless permitted by the instructor) plagiarizing; submitting work from another course (unless permitted by the instructor); and assisting anyone doing these things.  Academic Dishonesty is considered to be a serious offense and may result in failing an assignment, receiving an “F” in the course, or dismissal from the school. 


Makeup Exams

Any assignment or exam missed will be assigned a zero (0) unless due to some emergency situation.  Contact MHS for arrangements.


Grading Scale:


A
 = 90 to 100                           
B = 80 to 89  
C = 70 to 79                            
D = 60 to 69                
F = 59 and below
